Tips for NTSE Examination :
Be thorough with your NCERT books: Go through the class 9 and 10 NCERT books for clarity in concepts. If you have the time, do look into some concepts in Biology class 11 (portions that are relevant for class 9 and 10 only).
Stay fresh: Even though a lot of portions may require you to be able to recall concepts learnt, the MAT section relies heavily on your analytical ability. You need to be fresh and attentive to solve this section and score high. A crammed up or a sleep deprived brain on the examination day will under perform in this section.
Solve sample papers: Solve enough sample papers to know your speed and accuracy. One month prior to the examination, you may want to attempt at least a couple of papers per week.
Make a habit to sit for longer stretches: This helps you improve your concentration levels. While practicing, do not check answers after attempting every question. Complete a whole exercise and then check answers. Sitting for longer stretches (examination duration) will help you ward off concentration issues during examination.
Analyse performance: After every test or exercise that you do, make sure to analyse where you need to improve. Whether it is speed, concepts or accuracy. Make a genuine assessment and try to rectify the issue before you take the next mock test.
Good choice of books: The choice of books is important when you are preparing for the NTSE examination. Make sure that you pick a book that has less errors and variety of questions. Quality and not quantity matters.
Dedication: Needless to say, you need to believe in yourself and dedicate yourself to crack the examination. A half-hearted attempt is just a wastage of time and will degrade your confidence. Give your best and have no regrets later. Remember success may not be in your hands but striving for success definitely is!
Practice: The differentiating factor in many examinations is the level of practice. Look at all the successful people around you in any field. They all practice hard to succeed. Same holds true for any examination too. The more you practice, the less jittery you feel on the examination day.

Strategize on exam day: Make sure that you give sufficient time to the MAT section and try to finish off the SAT portion quickly as they are direct questions from your syllabus. Pick on a section that you are more comfortable with to start the paper. Make sure that you do not waste time by going extra slow (many students tend to do that and get tensed as time passes).
Not the end if you don’t succeed: Keep the thought in mind that this is not the examination that is going to decide your future. Neither is it a statement on your abilities as a student. Take it like any other examination. It is great if you get awarded the scholarship but it is not the end of the road even if you don’t. Feel proud for putting your best foot forward and go chase the stars!
